John Amis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Management at the University of Memphis. His research interests center on issues of organizational and institutional change. His work has been published in journals that include Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, American Journal of Public Health, Human Relations, and Organizational Research Methods. Amis has been a runner-up for the annual Academy of Management ‘Best Paper’ award and has twice won track ‘Best Paper’ awards from the Southern Management Association annual conference. He has received several teaching awards including the University of Memphis’ Distinguished Teaching Award. He sits on several editorial boards including Academy of Management Review from which he received an ‘Outstanding Reviewer’ award in 2012. His current work on childhood obesity was funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Amis received an undergraduate degree from the University of Birmingham (England), a master’s degree from DalhousieUniversity (Canada), and a doctorate from the University of Alberta (Canada).
