Dr. Charles A. (Chuck) Pierce is a Suzanne D. Palmer Professor of Human Resource Management and Interim Chair of the Department of Management, Fogelman College of Business and Economics, University of Memphis. He is also an elected Fellow of the Southern Management Association (SMA). Dr. Pierce received his B.S. (1990) from Syracuse University and M.A. (1992) and Ph.D. (1995) from the University at Albany, State University of New York. His research interests include workplace romance, sexual harassment in organizations, test bias and discrimination in employee selection, and organizational research methods (e.g., quantitative methods for estimating moderating effects in the context of employee selection; statistical methods in employment discrimination litigation; meta-analysis). Dr. Pierce has published his research in leading scholarly journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior & Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, Human Resource Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Educational & Psychological Measurement, and Organizational Research Methods. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and received awards including best paper in the Journal of Organizational Behavior and the Academy of Management's Research Methods Division Robert McDonald Advancement of Organizational Research Methodology award. Dr. Pierce served as Chair of the Research Methods (RM) Division of the Academy of Management and Treasurer of the Southern Management Association. He teaches undergraduate, MBA, executive MBA, and PhD courses in HR management, staffing organizations, and employee training & development. Dr. Pierce is Coordinator of the Mid-south Management Research Consortium (MMRC; http://www.memphis.edu/management). He has also served as an expert witness in an age and race employment discrimination lawsuit and a negligent hiring lawsuit.
